Obama talks deficit voters gas prices
April-21-2011--Obama has touched on the issue of gas prices at each stop on the West Coast.
President Barack Obama’s attempt to sell his deficit-cutting plan is slowly being crowded out by another more pressing issue: rising gasoline prices.
On a two-day trip through Nevada and California, Obama has devoted more and more of his time to address fears that many Americans could soon pay $5 a gallon — a prospect that holds significant peril for the White House and his reelection chances if it halts the nascent economic recovery
“We are going to make sure that no one is taking advantage of the American people for their own short-term gain,” Obama said at ElectraTherm, a small renewable-energy company.
